Monthly Developmental Screening Clinic
Children ages birth to 6 years old

This monthly clinic is a free of charge, drop-in service for parents to address questions and/or concerns regarding their child's development. The clinic is run by a qualified team of professionals, including behaviour analysts, speech-language pathologists, and occupational therapists who will be available to provide brief consultation in the areas of behaviour, speech, language, pre-literacy skills, and motor development.

The results of screening will be discussed with parents and are meant to indicate which areas are following typical development and others which should be monitored more closely.

Social Butterflies

This weekend group program will focus on teaching social and leisure (play) skills. Activities will focus around common preferred activities (as determined by a preference assessment) and may include structured physical games (e.g., Simon Says, parachute play, ball games), board games, crafts, and imaginative play. Specific social and leisure skill objectives for each child will be determined through an assessment conducted during the first session of each block in conjunction with family-identified goals.

Social Butterflies' groups will range from two to six children per group, with a ratio of two children for every ABA therapist (2:1). This low ratio is critical for success in meeting the individual skill objectives. Individual support (1:1 ratio) is also available if required at an additional fee. Social Butterflies' groups will be offered on Saturdays for 2.5 hour session.

Programs for Youth and Adults with Developmental Disabilities

Monarch House is pleased to be expanding our services through our Youth and Adult Behaviour division to offer evening programs for individuals with developmental disabilities and learning challenges aged 18 years and older.

These evening programs are designed to offer an introduction  to Monarch House services for youth and adults as well as to provide learning opportunities across a number of skill areas. The participant-to-staff ratio will be 2:1 or 3:1 (i.e., small group). Each participant will have identified target goals and data will be collected on the specified skills. A BCBA (Board Certified Behaviour Analyst) will be providing ongoing supervision throughout the session and a summary report of progress will be provided at the end of the 6-week block.
